Homicide
A person is guilty of Criminal Homicide if he intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or negligently cause the death of a human being. There are different degrees of Homicide, including First, Second and Third Degree Murder and Voluntary and Involuntary Manslaughter.
Voluntary Manslaughter
When a person kills another when under a sudden and intense passion resulting from serious provocation.
Involuntary Manslaughter
When a person causes the death of another by doing an act in a reckless or grossly negligent manner. This act is an unintentional killing and is usually graded as a Misdemeanor.
Homicide By Vehicle
When a person recklessly or grossly negligent causes the death of another while committing a traffic or vehicle code violation.
Homicide By Vehicle
When a driver causes the death of another as a result of a D.U.I. The driver must also be convicted of D.U.I. and the D.U.I. must be the cause of the death.
A conviction for this offense has a mandatory sentence of at least three (3) to six (6) years in a state prison.
